Warrants lead to arrest

In the early morning hours of Wednesday, Jan. 7 Grapeland Police Department arrested James O’Neal Smith on outstanding warrants in Anderson and Walker counties.
According to reports, the 41-year-old Smith had fled from GPD on Monday, Jan. 5 when they attempted to arrest him.
Authorities did locate
Smith at 2:30 a.m. on Jan. 7 and he was arrested and charged with assault/family violence and evading arrest.
Authorities said while Smith was being searched at the Houston County Sheriff’s Office Jail they found drug paraphernalia.
GPD also charged Smith with possession of drug paraphernalia in a correctional facility.
