Firefighters respond to several fire fires

Friefighters from Crockett, Latexo, Belott and Lovelady responded to several calls on Thursday, Jan. 22.
Crockett Fire Department responded to the first call at 7:15 a.m. on CR 3397 about 6 miles south of Crockett off Hwy. 19.
Crockett Fire Chief Darrell Deckard said once on the scene of the 20-acre woods fire they determined it was
inaccessible by their equipment and the scene was turned over to the Texas Forest Service. Lovelady Volunteer Fire Department and the Houston County fire Marshal also responded to the call.
The next series of fires were all reported about 4 p.m.
CFD responded to a 4-acre pasture fire on FM 2110 about 5 miles southwest of Loop 304.
Authorities said the fire started from a stump that rekindled due to high winds after an initial burning on Tuesday, Jan. 20.
CFD responded with four trucks and seven men and cleared the scene about 5:30 p.m. No injuries were reported.
Lovelady Volunteer Fire Department responded to a 4 p.m. call inside Lovelady city limits on Pennington Street that involved a grass fire in a residential yard that threatened a shed.
Reports indicate the resident was burning trash in a barrel without a screen.
The Houston County Fire Marshal also responded to the call.
At about the same time, 4 p.m., Latexo Volunteer Fire Department and Belott Volunteer Fire Department responded to a grass fire on CR 1545 off CR 2022 and Hwy. 21. As of press time, full details of the fire were not available.
