New Years Eve crash injures six

CROCLETT – Six people, including two children, were transported to area hospitals following a New Year’s Eve head-on collision in Kennard.
According to reports, the crash occurred on Hwy. 7 about 2.1 miles west of Kennard at about 5:40 p.m.
Authorities said a 2001 Hyundai, driven by Patricia Arias, 28, of Pfugerville, was eastbound on Hwy. 7 and while attempting to pass another vehicle in a no pass zone, collided head-on with a westbound 1994 Oldsmobile, driven by Brenda Benton, 47, of Kennard.
Reports indicate that Ms. Arias, and her two juvenile passengers, ages 7 and 9, were transported to ETMC Crockett by ETMC EMS.
Texas Department of Public Safety Sergeant Tom Bledsoe, Benton, and her two passengers Melvin and Shannon Harris were transported to Lufkin Memorial Hospital.
Kennard First Responders, DPS Senior Trooper Bob Reeves and Houston County Sheriff’s Office deputies also responded to the call.
