CROCKETT – Filing for a position in the November 2010 General Election ended on Monday, Jan. 4.
Both Republicans and Democrats filed with their respective parties vying for various offices. Independents filed with the county judge.
The month-long filing period began on Thursday, Dec. 3.
Republicans and Democrats will face their party opposition for each office in the Tuesday, March 2, 2010 Primary Election.
The Primary Election, and any ancillary run-off elections will determine which single Republican candidate will face which single Democratic candidate and any Independent candidates for each of the positions that will be ultimately decided in the Tuesday, Nov. 2 General Election.
After the primary elections and runoffs are over to become an official candidate, an Independent must obtain signatures on a petition and file for a place on the ballot.  This must be filed by May 13.
The number of signatures required is five percent of the total number of votes cast in the county in the 2006 general election for governor.
