County’s first baby of 2012 arrives Jan. 1

Houston County’s newest resident and the first baby of 2012 was born at ETMC Crockett Birthing Center on Sunday, Jan. 1, at 4:39 p.m. to Ricardo and Arlene Martinez of Grapeland. The baby girl, named Mariah Margarita Martinez, was 19 inches long and weighed 6 lb. and 15 oz. According to ETMC Crockett officials, this is the first baby actually born at ETMC Crockett on the first day of the New Year since 2003. In previous years the years first baby usually came a day or two after the first. Grandparents are Adolfo and Norma Zambrano and Ricardo and Elia Martinez. Little Mariah has a brother, Ricardo, age 4 and a sister, Hazel, age 2. Hospital representatives presented Arlene Martinez with a gift basket filled with essentials for the new arrival. “We congratulate the Martinez family on the arrival of Mariah Margarita Martinez,” said ETMC Crockett Administrator Terry Cutler. |
