Eight-year-old Jay Thomas Robinson received a real hero’s welcome when he returned to Crockett this week following a family vacation in Galveston.
It was on Thursday, July 16, Jay Thomas’s 8th birthday that he and his 11-year-old sister were celebrating with family members at a condominium on the beach when his quick actions and a twist of fate made him a real hero.
Jay Thomas was swimming at the condo when a little two-year-old boy who was wearing his floaties jumped into the pool.
Jay Thomas said the little boy’s floaties came off and he began sinking.
Jay Thomas leaped into action and dove under the water, grabbed the boy’s arm and pulled him over to the ladder when the youth’s mother picked him up.
Jay Thomas’ grandmother, Carey Minter said the entire family was very proud of him for saving the little boy.
The youth and his family returned from the vacation to their Midway home on Sunday, July 19.
The young Robinson’s mother is Brandy Steward and his father is Jay Robinson.
His grandparents are Danny and Carey Minter, Joe Robinson, Richard and Dorothy Yawn.
