Plans underway for 4th of July celebration

Crockett
The Crockett Downtown Beautification Corporation (CDBC) is hard at work finalizing plans for the annual 4th of July parade and festivities. 
Festivities will begin at 10 a.m. on the square with the exciting parade. 
Individuals who want to participate in the homemade ice cream and pie contest must have their items checked in by 8:30 a.m. in front of the Moosehead Café. 
Children participating in the bike-decorating contest should meet at the Crockett Bank parking lot on the East Goliad side at 9 a.m.
Float participants need to meet at the First Baptist Church at 801 East Goliad Avenue at 9 a.m. 

The parade starts at 10 a.m.  The 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in the pie, ice cream, bike decorating and floats contests will be announced on the eastside of the courthouse following the parade. 
Free games will be set up in the parking lot adjacent to the Moosehead Café
There will also be a concession stand with hotdogs and cold drinks.

On Saturday, July 5 the Third Annual Fireworks Over Crockett show will be held at the Crockett Civic Center at 9:30 p.m.
The event, sponsored by Coca-Cola Bottling Company, and Wal-Mart will follow a 7 p.m. performance of the Texas Opry.

Houston County Lake
The annual fireworks show will be held at Houston County Lake on Friday night, July 4 at sunset.
The 12th Annual Boat Parade on Houston County Lake will be held on Saturday, July 5 at 4 p.m.
A trophy will be awarded to the Best of Show. Certificates will be awarded in several categories including, First Runner Up, Most Patriotic, Best Spirited Crew, Most Original, Best Towed Craft and Honorable Mention.
Registration will be Saturday, 12-2 p.m. at the Statue of Liberty. 
Boats will gather at the statue at 4 p.m. for the parade, which will travel around the lake and return to the statue for the awards presentation.
