2009-2010 Performing Arts Series announced!

Piney Woods Fine Arts Association has announced the schedule for the upcoming Signature Series.
Past members are asked to renew their seats by Wednesday, July 8.
Season Tickets for the six performances "Signature Series" at the Crockett Civic Center are $150, $125, and $100, with students 18 and younger 1/2 price. For additional information call 544-4276.
New season tickets will go on sale Friday, Aug. 7 and single tickets will be available starting Friday, Aug. 28.
All performances are at 7:30 p.m. at the Crockett Civic Center.
This seasons special event is Tracy Byrd who has become one of country music's core artists, a Texas born traditionalist equally skilled at serving up playful hits like "Watermelon Crawl" and "The Truth About Men" as well as poignant ballads such as his signature song "Keeper of the Stars," which netted the Academy of Country Music's Song of the Year accolade in 1996. The New Signature Series: (Subject to Change)
To Kill a Mockingbird By Christopher Sergel. Harper Lee wrote To Kill a Mockingbird during a very tense time racially in her home state of Alabama. The South was still segregated, forcing blacks to use separate facilities apart from those used by whites, in almost every aspect of society. The Civil Rights Movement began to pick up steam Mr. Sergel's stage adaptation of Ms. Lee's classic story continues to compel and delight viewers worldwide with its warmth, wit, and wisdom. Friday Oct.16.
Cirque Shanghai: Bai XI Chinese acrobatic spectacles were first called "Bai Xi," meaning "one hundred amazing acts". An awesome displays of physical strength with incredible feats of balance; graceful folkloric pageantry with fast paced contemporary dance; energetic martial arts with phenomenal equilibrialist skills… all performed in spectacular costumes, on the stage and high in the air, in a grand theatrical production and at a new standard of acrobatic and entertainment excellence. All of these genres will influence a set list of the most-loved holiday songs of all time. Friday Dec. 4.
Billy Joe Royal and BJ Thomas "Raindrops and Boondocks" With forty years of music history, five Grammy awards, dozens of chart hits, and two amazing voices, this will be a great show. B J Thomas hits include: Raindrops Keep Fallin on my Head, Hooked on a Feeling, I Just Can't Help Believin', (Hey won't you play) Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song, I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry, Rock and Roll Lullaby. Jim Witter’s PIANO MEN - The Music of Elton John and Billy Joel This group of talented musicians, featuring the award-winning pianist Jim Witter, takes the audience on a ride through the 1970s with a multimedia performance that combines the music of Billy Joel and Elton John with images. Images of newspaper headlines, people, events, TV shows and even toys from that era will add to a full 1970s experience. Saturday Feb. 20, 2010
