To prevent burglaries, Houston County Pct. 1 Constable Morris Luker is encouraging area residents, businesses and churches to lock up when they leave the premises. Luker said he recently conducted a security check on businesses and churches in his precinct, and found most businesses were secure. However, he is concerned that some churches had unlocked doors and no one was present. He also cautioned residents to lock up their vehicles, including church vans. Luker urges churches to make sure the Houston County Sheriff’s Office has a good contact number to call, someone with a key to the church building, in case they do discover a break-in.Houston County, Luker said this applies to all churches in the county, but especially those in Precinct 1. In Precinct 1, churches may also call Luker at 544-2481 and give him their information directly. Additionally, Luker advised that residents may call HCSO at 544-2862 or his office to request extra security patrol when they are gone on vacation. |
