HCMA Announces Holy Week Schedule
Houston County Courier -  March 2009

The Houston County Ministerial Association (HCMA) will gather as united Christians during Holy Week.
This year Holy Week will be April 5-12.
It begins on Sunday, April 5 when the scripture readings for the day will focus on Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem.
This is where people gathered awaiting for a new King to lead them away from and victoriously over the Roman Empire.
So the local people placed palm branches on the road, their garments as well, in honor of the new King, Jesus Christ.
As the week unfolded though, Jesus disappointed the people because instead of conquering the empire he gave up his own life.  What kind of king does this?
This is the story of Holy Week.
HCMA invites the public to attend the united worship services to discover together once again the story of victory over death for our Lord, Jesus Christ.
The following is the schedule:

  • Monday, April 6 First Christian Church, Crockett
  • Tuesday, April 7 First Baptist Church, Latexo
  • Wednesday, April 8 Saint Francis Catholic Church, Crockett
  • Thursday, April 9 Bethel Baptist Church, Crockett
  • Friday, April 10 All Saints Episcopal Church, Crockett

The preachers for each service will be Monday, Rev. Tim Allen, Tuesday, Chaplain Sam Cupa from the State School, Wednesday Father Dan Gonzalez, Thursday, Brother Earl Harris and Friday, newly ordained Rev. Jack Chase.
Each day the worship services will start at 12 p.m. and by 12:30 p.m. those attending will be invited to eat a quick lunch at each respective church so that you can be back at work by 1 p.m.    All are invited.
Finally, the story ends with a sunrise service on Easter Sunday, April 12 at 7 a.m. led by Dr. Charles Allen and Rev. Jim Tom Ainsworth at Camp Tejas in Weches.
The next meeting of the Association will be April 8 at Wayside Bible Church at 10:15 a.m.   A prayer breakfast gathering will be at the Hill Top Café starting at 9 a.m.   All pastors you are invited to join the group.
