Miles of sales to be held on trail
Houston County Courier - March 2009
The El Camino Real, Caddo Region Trail Partners will host an event that features miles of yard sales, flea markets, trade/craft shows, sidewalk sales on the first weekend in May beginning Friday, May 1.
The idea is to have as many activities along Texas Hwy. 21 and Louisiana Hwy. 6 in conjunction to promote tourist travel on the historic and scenic El Camino Real, otherwise known as “Old San Antonio Road,” and “Kings Highway.”
The goal is to spread the event from Natchitoches, Louisiana to the Trinity River past Crockett.
“We are encouraging anyone interested to hold their own yard sale or any other event along the trail. By coordinating lots of activities, we can promote highway traffic with our advertisements and websites,” said Juanita chairman Brenner Crockett Area Chamber of Commerce tourism committee.
“We especially hope that each county or parish chamber of commerce or tourism bureau will accept the challenge to get the word out to your residents and businesses who are located along the highway to participate. This is a great opportunity to attract visitors to our area and we welcome your help in this grassroots effort,” Ms. Brenner said.
