Man hospitalized after crash

A 37-year-old man was hospitalized at ETMC Crockett following a Saturday, March 14 crash just north of Lovelady.
According to reports, the one-vehicle crash occurred at 1:10 p.m. on Hwy. 19 about four miles north of Lovelady.
Reports indicate a 2002 Ford Explorer, driven by John E. Guzman was northbound on Hwy. 19 when he attempted to avoid an animal that was crossing the roadway.
Guzman reportedly lost control of the vehicle and it ran off the eastside of the highway striking a culvert.
The Explorer became airborne and burst into flames when it impacted with the ground.
Guzman was able to free himself from the burning vehicle.
He was transported to ETMC Crockett by ETMC EMS. He was reportedly admitted to the hospital suffering from back injuries.
Guzman was cited for driving while license invalid and no liability insurance.
Senior Trooper Bobby Bowlin, Trooper Brady Germeroth, Houston County Sheriff’s office, Lovelady Volunteer Fire Department, Crockett Fire Department also responded to the call.
