Wisconsin man dies after Monday crash

PORTER SPRINGS – A Wisconsin man died and his wife was injured following a one vehicle Monday morning,, March 1 crash on CR 3070. According to reports, at about 9 a.m. about 2 miles west of FM 132 a 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer, driven by 81-year-old Delmar Kipp, of Veloit, Wis. was south and eastbound on CR 3070 when he drove off the left side of the road. The driver reportedly overcorrected, the vehicle par-tially rolled, slid and struck a tree finally coming to rest on the driver’s side. Kipp and his wife, Juanita, 80, who was a passenger in the vehicle at the time of the crash, went unnoticed for about 45-minutes following the crash. Authorities said a passerby who was on his way to take care of his cattle noticed the vehicle on the side of the road and called authorities. Mrs. Kipp was reportedly transported to ETMC Crockett by ETMC EMS and treated and released. Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper I Brady Ger-meroth and Sgt. Darren Vacek, Porter Springs Volunteer Fire Department, Crockett fire Department, and Houston County Sheriff’s Office responded to the call. Authorities ordered an au-topsy on Kipp. Kipp was pro-nounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Precinct 2 Kathy Bush. |
