Two airlifted after crash

A two-car collision on US 287, about seven miles south of Crockett during the noon hour on Wednesday, March 16 resulted in two elderly Houston County men being airlifted to ETMC Tyler. James Holmes, 84, of Pennington, was traveling northbound in a tan 1999 Toyota Camry when he apparently crossed into the southbound lane, striking a 2000 maroon Chrysler Concorde head-on, according to investigating DPS Trooper Brady Germeroth. Jack Jones, 94, of Crockett was driving the Chrysler, Germeroth reported. The collision occurred at approximately 12:39 p.m., Germeroth stated. The condition of the two men was unknown at presstime. |
