Crime stoppers honors emergency personnel

Emergency personnel from throughout the area were honored for their dedication and service to the community during the Houston County Crime Stoppers Banquet held on Tuesday night, May 12.
Fire departments, law enforcement agencies and emergency responders were charged with selecting their individual “Person of the year” and Crime Stoppers paid tribute to them during the “Mayberry Memories” event held at the Good Shepherd Church.
The event included music and skits by Jerry Wright, Margaret Wright, Virginia Lewis, Robert Moffett, Catherine Hamilton, Lawson Hamilton, Zachary McElhany, Mary Jo Bonner, and Roger Erwin remembering the people of Mayberry.
Fire department personnel honored included Russell Jenkins of Austonio Volunteer Fire Department; Mike Currie of Belott Volunteer Fire Department; John Pugh of Crockett Fire Department; Joseph Musick of Grapeland Volunteer fire Department; Hans Meinarous of Houston County lake Volunteer Fire Department; Larry Melson of Latexo Volunteer Fire Department; James Ackley Kennard/Ratcliff Volunteer Fire Department; Sam Ferraro of Porter Springs Volunteer Fire Department and Derrell Goodloe of Weches Volunteer Fire Department.
Law enforcement personnel honored included Trooper Michael Hutcherson of the Texas Department of Public Safety; Sergeant Justin Killough of the Houston County Sheriff’s Office; Houston County Game Warden Eddie Lehr and Vince Baker of Crockett Police Department.
Bud Rhone of ETMC EMS was recognized in the emergency medical service category.
Guests attending were pampered with extraordinary service provided by members of the local Boy Scouts, 4-H and Agape Home School.
