DPS troopers seeking witness to fatality crash
Houston County Courier - May 2009
DPS troopers are looking for a potential witness to a fatality crash Thursday afternoon on U.S. 190, one-tenth of a mile north of Old Bryan Highway in Robertson County.
One person was killed and two people were injured in a two-vehicle broadside crash at about 5:50 p.m.
A 2008 Kia driven by Serena C. Swanland was northbound on U.S. 190 when the driver lost control of the vehicle and skidded sideways into the southbound lane, and was struck broadside by a 2005 Ford pickup truck driven by Gene Allen Mullenberg. Swanland, 19, a student in College Station, was pronounced dead at the scene by JP 2 Ramona Aguirre. Mullenberg, 61, and his wife, Pamela, 58, were transported to Saint Josephs Hospital in Bryan. They are residents of Grand Prairie.
Investigators want to talk with a driver of a third vehicle who saw the crash.
Onlookers said that a man driving a white Chevrolet pickup truck had stopped briefly after the crash and spoke with other witnesses.
They said the man was about 6 feet 2 inches tall, with black curly hair, dark skin tone, good teeth and a foreign accent, possibly French.
They said he was very muscular and was wearing a white pullover shirt with blue jeans.
Anyone with information about the location of this witness is asked to call (979) 776-3131.
