Voting registrar offers information
Houston County Courier - May 2009
The Houston County Tax Assessor-Voter Registrar in discussing the upcoming May 9th elections has stated the following reminders for voters:
1. Voters who have not moved since their last voter registration card was issued, but who feel they have been placed in the wrong voting precinct, will have to come by the tax office and show the office where they reside. If the voting precinct is incorrect, the voter registration card can be changed before the election.
2. If the school jurisdictional code is missing, or a voter feels they have been placed in the wrong school jurisdiction, again, they will have to come by the tax office and show them where they reside. If the voting precinct is incorrect, the voter registration card can be changed before the election.
3. If a voter is in the Crockett Independent School District, their voter registration card should reflect one of the following five Crockett school districts: CSD1, CSD2, CSD3, CSD4 or CSD5. For those people who have a CSD or CISD code, they should come by the voter registration office and show them where they reside so the card can be updated.
4. If the card does not show the hospital district, voters should contact the tax office at 544-3255, ext. 243 to report this. In Houston County voters are either in the Grapeland Hospital District or Houston County Hospital District.
The voter registration office has been updating voter registration cards with the new 911 addresses. Those who have not turned in your new 911 address, should do so.
The only way the voter registration office can update voter registration cards is for the voter to notify this office with their 911 information.
These changes cannot be made prior to the election, but will be processed after the May 9 election.
Direct questions concerning voter registration to the voter registration office at 544-3255, ext. 258 or 243.
