Fire department receives defibrillators

CROCKETT – The Crockett Fire Department has distri-buted six defibrillator units to city facilities. The units were acquired through the proceeds from funding from a Depart-ment of Homeland Defense grant awarded to the city to support public safety projects. The grant program is admi-nistered through DETCOG. According to CFD Chief Darrell Deckard, three of the units will be assigned to de-partment vehicles, one will be placed at the civic center, one will be available at Porth Ag Arena and one will be used at city hall. Deckard said the cost of the six Medtronic, LIFEPAK 500, Automated External Defibril-lator units was $3,868 and they were placed in service on Friday, May 7.
