One jailed, one injured in Monday night crash

TRINITY COUNTY – One man was jailed and another transported to ETMC Trinity following a late-night two ve-hicle crash on Hwy. 19 about 1.5 miles north of FM 1893 (Barn Switch Road). According to reports, which were still sketchy as of press time, two pickups, a 2001 black Dodge driven by Glenn Sikes, 21, and a white Chevro-let, driven by David McCarty, 21, were northbound on Hwy. 19 when the Dodge left the road, and struck several trees, breaking them about eight feet off the ground. The Dodge then reportedly traveled back onto the road and was struck by the white Chevrolet. The Dodge reported erupted in fire following the impact. Sikes was reportedly ejected from the Dodge and was lay-ing on the roadway when emergency personnel arrived. McCarthy was transported to the Trinity County Jail where he was charged with driving while intoxicated. Sikes was transported to ETMC Trinity for treatment of the injuries he sustained in the incident. Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Bryan Becton, Lovelady Volunteer Fire De-partment, Trinity Volunteer Fire Department also respond-ed to the call.
