A Crockett man remained in the Houston County Jail Friday, May 11 after being arrested by the Crockett Police Department last weekend on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated kidnapping of a 31-year-old Crockett woman. According to a CPD statement, officers were dispatched Saturday, May 5, to a residence on Sallas St. regarding a disturbance where an ambulance was needed. The officers made contact with the victim inside the residence, and according to their report, found the woman had numerous lacerations on her legs, hand and neck. Archie Leon Pervis, 42, reported to be the woman’s boyfriend, was the alleged perpetrator. CPD officers detained Pervis and an ambulance from the East Texas Medical Center was cleared to enter the scene. ETMC EMS transported the woman to the emergency room at the East Texas Medical Center in Crockett where she was treated for her injuries, CPD reported. During the police investigation, it was reported that Pervis allegedly saw the woman walking down the street, stopped and forced her into his vehicle at knife point, then drove her to an unknown location where he assaulted her. Officers reported that after the assault, Pervis allegedly put the woman back into the vehicle and drove back to his residence on Sallas Street in Crockett. It was then that a nearby person reportedly called the police. After investigating, CPD arrested Pervis and transported him to the Houston County Jail where he was booked on the assault and kidnapping charges. |
