Birthday Celebration for Septuagenarian
Houston County Courier - November 2008
Ima Rushing Burson of Ratcliff turned 75 on her birthday, Thursday, Oct. 30, but her extended family and many friends have made plans that will stretch her birthday celebration into next week; from now until Thursday, Nov. 6.
No better, more eloquent words are needed to describe Ima Burson, septuagenarian.
Mrs. Burson, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother was born in 1933, graduated from Kennard High School in 1951, married the late J.D. Burson, lived in many states within the United States and also the Phillipines before her husband retired from the Air Force, then moved back to Houston County.
Mr. and Mrs. Burson's family consisted of Johnny Burson, deceased, and daughter-in-law Susan of Kennard, Jimmy Burson and Karon of Willis and Gina Burson McDaniel and Joe of Lovelady.
It is these family members plus Mrs. Burson's adult grandchildren who have put their heads together and tried to think of a way to include all her family and friends, both near and far, in her birthday celebration.
The plan is to send a birthday card or letter with a special thought or memory written inside. Including a picture would be great too.
A memory book will be made that includes the cards, letters and pictures. Mrs. McDaniel, daughter of the celebrant said that they're hoping to have no less than 75 cards and letters…one for each year of her mother's life.
When asked what her mother's occupation was, Mrs. McDaniel said, "She was a housewife and mom--a good one!"
