CROCKETT-Miss Texas, Rebecca Robinson will lead the Winter Wonderland Christmas Parade sponsored by the Houston County Career Women on Thursday, Nov. 20, 6 p.m., as Grand Marshal.
Each year, on the Thursday before "Christmas on the Square," the Houston County Career Women hold its annual Christmas Parade.
The parade is an opportunity to usher in the holidays, while giving the citizens a chance to gather in the downtown area to enjoy the festive atmosphere and visit with friends and merchants.
The parade theme will be "Winter Wonderland." To make the event a success the Houston County Career Women are asking the churches, schools, civic clubs, business organizations, youth groups to enter the parade, which will feature beautifully decorated floats and marching bands from all the schools in Houston County.
There is no entry fee. All entries will be vying for trophies in different categories: Judges Choice, Most Representative of theme, Most Artistic Lighting, Most Representative Religious Theme, Best Vehicle, Best Motorcycle, Four Wheeler, Bike, Best Marching Entry-Non Musical, Best Marching Entry, Best Equestrian Entry.
In addition Career Women require that entries are to be lighted, music and singing should be Christmas songs, entries must be lined up at 4:30 p.m. in front of First Baptist Church on Eighth Street, parade begins at 6 p.m. sharp, candy or items cannot be thrown on parade route and registration deadline is Nov. 19.
In addition to the parade, the downtown area will be decorated with festive twinkling lights to usher in the holiday season and to welcome Santa to Houston County.
Make plans to participate in the parade on Nov. 20, 6 p.m. The lineup will be in front of the First Baptist Church in Crockett, starting on Goliad Street and entering the square on East Houston Avenue.
