Sheriff’s Office Request for Alarm Contact Information
Houston County Courier - November 2008
Houston County Sheriff Darrel Bobbitt is requesting that anyone in the county who has an alarm system in to contact his office and provide them with current contact information.
Sheriff Bobbitt stated that his office has to have the correct information in order to properly respond to alarm calls. When contact names and phone numbers have been changed and the sheriff’s office has not been notified, it slows down the response time to these calls.
Sheriff Bobbitt stated that most of the time the alarm calls they receive are due to operator error or system error. However, he stated that they have to respond to each call received as though there is an actual burglary in progress.
“Not having the correct information on hand can be critical if there is an actual crime taking place,” Bobbitt said.
Citizens can reach the sheriff’s office at 544-2862 and provide information to dispatchers. The information that will be requested include keyholder names and phone numbers, any additional contact names and numbers and directions to the business or residence.
