Organizers of the Crockett downtown Beautification Corporation's Bootiful Halloween Party were delighted at the turnout for the fun-fill event held on Saturday, Oct. 25 at the Moosehead Café.
According to President Juanita Brenner, about 35 people attended wearing costumes representing such fun characters as a jailbird, Uncle and Mrs. Sam, gangster, flapper, kitty cat, and witch.
"It was a huge success and we look forward to continuing the party next year, bigger and better," said Ms. Brenner.
CDBC members prepared food for the event and prizes were awarded in several categories.
Twist Contest winners were Charles Arnold and Patsy Barney.
Best Dressed Couple Contest resulted in a tie between Wayne and Amanda Mask as a "Roaring 1920s Gangster Couple" and Mike and Mary Ann Lightsey as "John McCain and Sarah Palin."
Best Dressed Single Woman was awarded to Juanita Brenner who came as a "Witch" and Best Dressed Single Man went to Lonnie Hunt who was the evenings "Jailbird."
Ms. Barney and Ms. Brenner donated their prize winnings to the Myrtis Dightman Statue Fund and the other winners donated their winnings back to the CDBC.
Money received from the event will be used for the Christmas decorations for the courthouse and other project to keep historic Crockett beautiful for residents and visitors.
Ms. Brenner said that any and all contributions to help replace and enhance the decorations for the Christmas season would be appreciated.
Sound for the event was provided by Charlie Bobbitt, and Joni Clonts provided the facility.
Steve Keller and Daphne Session donated $100 each as a cash prize for the Twist Contest .
