Darryl M. Smith was named Crockett High School assistant principal at the Crockett Independent School District Board of Trustees meeting on Monday, Oct. 13.
He received his secondary education from Palestine High School and graduated with a Bachelor of science degree in biology and chemistry from Prairie View A&M University and most recently his Master of education and administrator's certification.
Smith's most recent employment has been with Jacksonville High School as a science instructor.  He served as assistant principal at Sam Houston High School and Barbara Jordan High School in Houston ISD.
His professional accomplishments include  WalMart Teacher of the Year in 1999, Who's Who Among American Teachers 2006, 1996, 1994, 1992 and he's served on the Texas Education Agency review board for the Science TAKS Exam  and the TEA review board for the Biology End of Course Exam.
