Early voters flock to polls

According to Houston County Clerk Bridget Lamb, a total 3,946 citizens had taken advantage of early voting as of the close of the polls on Thursday, Oct. 30.
Ms. Lamb said that on Monday 413 early votes were cast and on Tuesday there were 386 who made their way to the polls.
Wednesday voters cast 363 ballots at the courthouse and 212 in Grapeland, and on Thursday 324 at the courthouse and 86 in Kennard.
Friday 320 votes were cast at the courthouse and in Lovelady 160.
Weekend totals included 233 on Saturday and on Sunday there were 180 ballots marked.
Monday brought 326 voters to the polls and on Tuesday 338 cast ballots.
Wednesday found 272 people marking ballots and on Thursday 333 voters made their decisions.
According to records there are 15,059 registered voters in Houston County.
Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 2 and voters who did not cast ballots during early voting are encouraged to vote in their respective precincts.
