HOUSTON COUNTY - In a very touching and solemn ceremony, Veterans Day was observed at the Brailsford-English American Legion Post 134 in Crockett.
Ceremonies began with the reading of the names of the victims of the recent Ft. Hood tragedy as a remembrance to their sacrifice.
In a gesture to honor their service to the country, the names of all Houston County residents currently serving in all branches of the military were read aloud.
Past Post Commander, John McMillen officiated over the ceremony to retire worn and tattered flags, with the help of the current officers of the American Legion and the local Boy Scouts Troop.
All in attendance were reminded of what the flag represents; of how fortunate we are to reside in such a great country and, of the incredible sacrifices made by our active and retired military.
