GISD names sole finalist

GRAPELAND – Members of the Grapeland Independent School District Board of Trustees named a sole finalist in their search for a superintendent to replace Buddy Sumrall in a meeting held on Thursday night, Nov. 19
GISD trustees named K.L. Groholski, of Calvert, as Sumrall’s successor.
Groholski served as superintendent of Calvert ISD for two years. His experience also includes employment as a principal with Bremond ISD.
Sumrall, whose last day as superintendent is Jan. 15, 2010, has served in that capacity for the past six years.
Prior to becoming superintendent for GISD, Sumrall worked with Crockett ISD for 12 years.
Sumrall said he had no definite plans but would likely do some consulting work, substitute teach and interim superintendent work after leaving Grapeland ISD.
