Drug dealer sentenced to 75-years

CROCKETT – A Houston County jury sentenced a Crockett drug dealer to 75-years in prison on Monday, Nov. 23.
According to
information from the Houston
County District Attorney’s Office, 46-year-old Ricky Lane Gilmore, Sr. was convicted of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.
Gilmore was arrested after a tip came into Houston County Crime Stoppers on Jan. 14 indicating that the suspect would be transporting a controlled substance into the county.
Two Houston County Sheriff’s Office deputies reportedly spotted Gilmore about one mile south of Lovelady and knew he had outstanding warrants for back child support.
A traffic stop was initiated and Gilmore was arrested on the outstanding warrants and transported to the Houston County Sheriff’s Office jail.
Reports indicated that during the booking process Gilmore was found to have a controlled substance on his person which tested positive for cocaine and weighed 42.5 grams.
Reports said authorities also seized $360 and a 1996 Dodge pickup as a result of the arrest.
Gilmore’s sentence will run concurrently at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
