Former Crockett High School Principal Mark Glen Giles was booked into and released from the Houston County Jail on Tuesday, Nov. 9. Giles, 50, was charged with abuse of official capacity >$1,500<$20,000. This is a felony charge. Houston County Sheriff Darrel Bobbitt said his office investigated the complaint and the matter was referred to the Grand Jury. According to records in the District Clerk’s office, the date of the offense was July 17 and the case was filed on Oct. 27. This case was not included in District Attorney Donna Gordan Kasper’s report of unsealed indictments published Nov. 4. Being indicted and charged with a crime does not prove a person is guilty of the crime. Until and unless a person is actually convicted of a crime, he is considered innocent. |
