TxDOT to hold public hearing

The public is invited to attend a public hearing to give input on the transportation plan that determines project funding. The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has set the hearing for next week. The proposed Lufkin District FY 2011-2014 Rural Transpor-tation Improvement Plan (TIP) will be available for viewing prior to the hearing scheduled for 5 p.m., Nov. 16 at the Lufkin District Office. The plan covers Angelina, Houston, Nacogdoches, Polk, Sabine, San Augustine, San Jacinto, Shelby and Trinity counties. The hearing is being conducted to receive public comments on the initial adoption of the plan. TxDOT and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) will use the TIP to fund projects for the next four years, including all federally funded projects. The document is currently available for viewing at the Lufkin District Office located at 1805 N. Timberland Drive. Those unable to attend the hearing can still participate in the process by viewing the proposed rural TIP document at the TxDOT office or online at http://www.txdot.gov/business/governments/stips.htm. Click on 2011-2014 District Statewide Transportation Improvement Plan and select Lufkin under the “Highway” and/or “Transit” columns. Written comments can be submitted at the hearing or sent to Sam Skrehot at: TxDOT Lufkin District, 1805 N. Timberland Drive, Lufkin, Texas 75901 or via e-mail at mailto:Sam.Skrehot@txdot.gov. All comments must be received by 5 p.m. Nov. 29. Citizens with special com-munication or accommodation needs who plan to attend the hearing should contact the district public information office at (936) 633-4395 at least two days prior to the event date.
