A Trinity woman died after being found unconscious in her cell at the Houston County Jail early Saturday evening, Oct. 29. According to a Houston County Sheriff’s Office report, Julie Mae Taylor, 38, was discovered at approximately 5 p.m. by jailers performing their routine rounds. The jailers summoned help and called for an ambulance. Efforts to save Taylor were unsuccessful. The AED defibrillator was used on Taylor and CPR was administered until medical assistance arrived. ETMC EMS personnel transported Taylor to ETMC Crockett, where Taylor was later pronounced dead. HCSO officials confirm an autopsy was ordered to help determine the cause of death. Initial reports suggest that Taylor died of natural causes; however, the toxicology report and the final results of investigation are still pending, HCSO officials said. Taylor was arrested on Friday, Oct. 21 for felony theft, according the Houston County jail records.
