ALTO - Caddo Mounds State Historic Site invites the public to participate in a night program of star gazing. Activities will include classroom instruction beginning at 7:45 p.m. and actual night sky viewing beginning at 8:45 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8. A Stephen F. Austin State University graduate student, Collin Timmons, and others will host the program. Participants will learn about how the light spectrum can provide astronomers and amateurs important information about the stars and night sky above the earth. Night time viewing will include constellation identification. Hot coffee and cocoa will be provided. There is a $2 charge for the program. Visitors are invited to bring their own telescopes. Mission Tejas State Park, six miles further west on SH 21, will host a viewing of the video, “Star of Bethlehem” the same night at 6 p.m. Caddo Mounds State Historic Site is located at 1649 SH 21, approximately 30 minutes from Crockett.
