Houston County Courier

The Christmas season is a time when people look for hope, and several Houston County churches are coming together to share messages of hope through a contemporary musical production. “The Hope of Christmas – Share the Light”, created by Phil Barfoot, will be presented at the Crockett Civic Center Sunday, Dec. 9 at 6 p.m. Admission is a canned food item and/or a new toy for local children. Local area churches will provide free refreshments. “The Hope of Christmas – Share the Light” is a 90-minute musical play set in modern day New York’s Central Park. It is packed with high-energy celebration songs, warm nostalgic moments, fresh contemporary settings, seasonal favorites and meaningful worship moments. “The word ‘hope’ is a word you hear a lot and yet we see so very little of hope around us. The hope of Christmas was born in that manger and went on to become our savior. We have the privilege of sharing that hope . . . this Christmas,” Barfoot said in a promotional video. “Every song we selected for this . . . has to do with hope.” Some of the featured titles in “The Hope of Christmas – Share the Light” include “Celebration!”, “All Glory”, “Mary, Did You Know”, “God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen” and “This Little Child”. A “Christmas Carol Sing- Along” includes “Joy to the World!”, “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing” and “Go, Tell It on the Mountain”.
