Piney Creek Horse Trail to reopen in Davy Crockett National Forest
Houston County Courier - October 2008
Piney Creek Horse Trail, closed since Hurricane Ike blew through East Texas in mid-September, will reopen Saturday, Oct. 11, according to Davy Crockett National Forest Ranger JR Lawrence.
“High winds caused many trees to snap, lean over or topple, making the trail impassable,” Lawrence said.
“Chain saw crews have been working seven days a week to get the trails, recreation areas and hunter camps safe for the public.”
Ratcliff Lake Recreation Area, the 4C National Recreation Trail and hunter camps No. 14 and No. 19 remain closed.
