Census Bureau Offering Jobs in Houston County
Houston County Courier - October 2008

The 2010 Census is a little over a year away, but the Census Bureau will soon be hiring workers in Houston County.
"We want to make sure that everyone in Houston County is counted this time,” said Houston County Judge Lonnie Hunt.
"So we are working with the Census Bureau to help them find qualified workers.  They called this week to say they are ready to start hiring, so we have planned a Census Worker Job Fair for Monday, October 27.”
There will be two sessions and anyone interested in the census jobs can attend either session at the Crockett Civic Center.
The afternoon session will begin at 1 p.m. and the evening session will begin at 6 p.m.

"These are pretty good jobs, and some of them will last for up to two years, so I encourage all interested citizens to attend one of these sessions to learn more about the positions available.  They will take applications at each session.”
Most of the jobs available in Houston County will pay between $8 and $19 per hour.
Those attending one of the Census Worker Job Fairs on Monday will hear a brief presentation about the various jobs available, followed by a question and answer session.  This process should take only about 30 minutes.
Then, anyone who is interested will be able to submit an application.  Those who apply will take a short pre-employment test, which takes about 30 minutes to complete.
