CISD students recognized

Five Crockett Independent School District Advanced Placement Spanish Language students were recognized for their achievement on the 2009 exams during the Monday, Sept. 28 meeting of CISD trustees.
CISD teacher Barbara Crowson introduced the students to trustees and highlighted the scores that secured them the distinction.
Students recognized during the presentation included Margoth Cisneros, Maria Arcibar, Yonathon Cruz, and Maria Beatrice Quintero. Jose Chavez was also recognized but was unable to attend the meeting.
A total of 99,432 students across the state took the exam and six of those hailed from CISD.
Three students scored the highest possible five; one scored four; and one scored three on the exam described as most difficult by Ms. Crowson.
Students scoring 3-5 on the test receive 12-17 college hours for their accomplishment.
Ms. Crowson said that 15-17 college hours would be valued at about $6,000-$8,000.
Results for the 2009 Advancement Placement exams were distributed at the meeting and included Calculus AB which was taken by a total of 220,415 student with 11 of those being from Crockett. One student scored three.
The AP English Language and Composition exam was taken by total of 329,596 students of which 18 were from Crockett one of which scored five.
A total of 319,653 students took the AP English Literature and Composition exam, five were from Crockett. Two scored four and one scored three.
In AP Government and Politics a total of 184,515 students took the exam. Two were from Crockett and one scored five.
