Election nears, early voting has begun

Early voting in the upcoming Tuesday, Nov. 3 election began on Monday, Oct. 19 with 12 voters casting their ballots. Officials said the numbers could be considered a low turnout.
The election will decide several state issues namely 11 proposed Constitutional Amendments.
Early voting will continue through Friday, Oct. 30 at the Houston County Courthouse 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
The last day to apply for a ballot by mail is Tuesday, Oct. 27.
According to Houston County Clerk Bridget Lamb, polling places have been consolidated to five locations for this election.
The polling places will be open 7 a.m.-7 p.m. on election day, Tuesday, Nov. 3 and are as follows:
Crockett voters in Precincts 1, 2, 3, 4, 11, 14 and 22 will vote at the Houston County Courthouse.
Grapeland voters in Precincts 5, 6, 8, 15, and 16 will cast their ballots at the First United Methodist Church.
Kennard voters in Precincts 19 and 21 will vote at Kennard High School.
Lovelady voters in Precincts 7, 9, 10, 17, and 18 will cast their ballots at the W.T. Bruton Community Park.
Weches voters in Precincts 12 and 20 will vote at the Weches Fire Station.
