Local youth named contest winner
Houston County Courier -  October 2009

Kathryn Hamilton of Houston County was named Talent Find winner during the Texas Farm Bureau District 9 Queen and Talent Find Contest held on Saturday, Sept.  26 at First Baptist Church in Livingston.
Texas Farm Bureau has 13 districts statewide and individual county farm bureaus from across Texas often hold their own county-level contests and nominate candidates to the district youth contests.
The 13 district winners in both contests will go on to compete at the state level in December, held at Texas Farm Bureau's annual convention, planned for Dec. 5-7 in Fort Worth this year.
The queen's contest has been held annually since 1949, with the state winner taking home a handsome scholarship and prize package in exchange for serving as a youth ambassador for Texas' largest farm organization over the next year of her reign.
The Talent Find Contest is exactly that: a showcase of young men and women performing their given talent, be it acting, song, dance, musical instrument, comedy routine, whatever they choose.
State winner there also wins a handsome scholarship and prize package.
