Houston County Courier
Glenn Wayne Cleaver, age 56, of Flat Prairie in Trinity County was found dead Friday, Oct. 15, at the scene of a grass fire in Lovelady on Friday, Oct. 15. “At this time, it appears that the death was accident, but an autopsy has been ordered to determine the exact cause of death,” according to a Houston County Sheriff’s Office press release. The sheriff’s office described the situation, “While at a residence a local volunteer fireman noticed smoke coming from the east of his residence. “He responded with a fire truck and upon arrival found about a three-fourths of an acre burning and a deceased person lying on the ground at the edge of the fire. “The firefighter immediately began to put out the grassfire around the deceased and then called for medical assistance. “Investigators and deputies from the sheriff’s office arrived on scene along with other emergency personnel. “The investigation revealed a grass fire began while Mr. Cleaver was attempting to cut scrap metal. It appeared that Mr. Cleaver was overcome with either smoke inhalation or a health-related issue that contributed to his death while attempting to put out the fire. There were small burns on the hands and back of Mr. Cleaver’s neck.” The property where Cleaver was found is located on FM 1280 East in Lovelady. |
