Raid on Trinity residence ends with drugs charges
Houston County Courier - August 2009
TRINITY – A raid on a Trinity residence last week ended with the arrest of two suspects on drug manufacturing charges and the seizure of drugs and stolen goods.
According to Trinity County Sheriff Ralph Montemayor, Freddie Leon Simmons, 58, and Carla Wars, 34, were arrested Wednesday, Aug. 26, by a multi-agency task force following a raid at a house at 128 Dryden Street.
Simmons was charged with two counts of manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance while Wars was charged with three counts of the offence. Simmons has since posted a $200,000 bond and was released.
Montemayor said members of the county sheriff’s department were joined by narcotics officers with the Texas Department of Public Safety, the Walker County Sheriff’s Department, the Huntsville Police Department and the Houston County Sheriff’s Department.
The sheriff said officers were able to obtain a search warrant for the residence following a narcotics investigation in which controlled substances were purchased.
During the search, officers seized crack cocaine, marijuana and prescription drugs. Also found and seized were stolen goods, a motorcycle and a pick-up truck.
