Fee increases proposed at Ratcliff Lake Recreation Area
Houston County Courier - August 2009
District Ranger JR Lawrence is interested in receiving comments on a proposed fee increase at Ratcliff Lake Recreation Area, in the Davy Crockett National Forest.
“We have not had a fee increase since 1997 and the increases are severely needed to help pay for improvements such as repaving roads, installing new bathrooms with hot showers and building a new fee station, among several projects,” Lawrence said.
“These increases will align the fees at Ratcliff with similar public and private sites and keep the area well-maintained.”
The fee for a basic campsite will go from $10 to $15 while campsites with electric go from $15 to $20.
Day Use fees will go from 3 a vehicle to $5 a vehicle. Lawrence added that 95 percent of the funds collected at Ratcliff Lake Recreation Area remain on the forest to operate, maintain and improve the facilities and programs at recreation sites.
“We welcome the public to come to Ratcliff and see the improvements to the bathhouse at the swimming area; it really looks great!” Lawrence said.
The public may comment on the proposed fee increases by filling out a comment card at Ratcliff Lake, by calling the Davy Crockett Ranger’s office at 655-2299 and leaving a message, or by emailing to email@example.com with the subject: Ratcliff Lake fees.
