Burn ban lifted

The burn ban for Houston County was lifted on Friday, Aug. 28 at 5 p.m.
According to Houston County Judge Lonnie Hunt, the action stemmed from the rainfall recently received.
Houston County Fire Marshall David Lamb certified that conditions no longer require the burn ban at this time.  
“We are very aware that some areas of the county have not received as much rain as others,” Judge Hunt said.
“We urge all citizens who find it necessary to conduct outdoor burning to do so with extreme caution.  And if you live in an area of the county that has not received significant rainfall, we encourage you to voluntarily refrain from burning until conditions improve in your specific location,” he added.
