The citizens, the taxpayers, will be hurt by the expense of Crockett Police Chief Jimmy Fisher’s pending law suit he recently filed against the sheriff's department, the sheriff, the city, county and others, theorized Houston County Sheriff Darrel Bobbitt. With regards to the allegations contained in Fisher’s lawsuit, Bobbitt said, “The sheriff's office, we, at no point, at no time, have we conspired to arrest Jimmy Fisher.” The sheriff went on to say that he “has never seen any evidence, not one shred,” of a conspiracy against Fisher. “This office has nothing to do with that, had nothing to do with it,” Bobbitt continued. He recalled that when Fisher was indicted by a grand jury two years ago, and ultimately cleared, Fisher contacted the district attorney's office and made arrangements to turn himself in. Bobbitt further recalled that Fisher was only at the jail a few minutes. He also recalled that Fisher made comments that he was treated fairly and respectfully during that time. Bobbitt also stated his office works cooperatively with Crockett police officers on a daily basis.
