Bowlin starting group to stop animal abuse
Houston County Courier
By Lynda Jones
Not satisfied with just reporting animal abuse and rescuing a maimed puppy, Lori Bowlin wants to stop animal abuse. To this end, Bowlin is organizing the Stop Animal Abuse in Houston County Support Group. The purpose of the group is for other concerned citizens to discuss the problem of animal abuse in Houston County and surrounding counties, to discuss ways to stop the abuse and to get help/support from the community. The first meeting of the group will be at 6 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 27, at the Houston County Electrical Co-op on Loop 304 in Crockett. Bowlin said Layla, the puppy saved by a TxDOT employee last week after someone had cut off her ears and abandoned her, is recovering. Layla is scheduled to be spayed this week and is almost ready for a new home, Bowlin said. In what may be related, Bowlin’s home was burglarized last weekend. Bowlin said she does not know if it is related to publicity about the earless puppy. Layla is not with Bowlin, but is in a foster home until a “forever” adoptive home is approved by Bowlin.
