In February, Houston County resident Kim Spellman learned that the local SHARE office was in short supply of some basic necessities and as a response, launched a successful Socks and Soap drive around the county. Over the last 30 days, Spellman and local businesses have been collecting socks and soap for SHARE, inching toward her goal of 100 bars of soap and 100 packages of socks. Through collection boxes and Spellman's promotion on her personal Facebook page, on Friday, March 8 she was able to drop off 285 packages of socks - with 1,942 pairs total, as well as 1,690 bars of soap. After the viral success of the campaign, Spellman said she was compelled to do more. Now she is collecting toothbrushes and toothpaste for SHARE. This drive will run for 14 days, and she hopes to collect 500 toothbrushes and 500 tubes of toothpaste to donate. Drop box locations are located at A Cut Above, A Creative Touch, Bella - Gifts from the Heart, Betty Boop, Citizens National Bank in Crockett, Country Clutter, Crockett Bank, Crockett Elks Lodge, Crockett Veterinary Clinic, First Community Bank in Crockett, the Houston County Courthouse, Lovelady State Bank, Lucky Cleaners, Paul Dawson Insurance, Prosperity Bank locations in Crockett and Grapeland, Sears Hometown Store, Central Baptist Church in Crockett and Stockman's Steakhouse.
