Clinic extends hours
Houston County Courier
Houston County residents now have an alternative to the emergency room when they are sick or have minor accidents outside regular doctors' office hours. The East Texas Medical Center announced Monday, April 15 that ETMC First Physicians Clinic in Crockett has extended its hours of operation to 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The clinic is open during its regular hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., on Wednesdays and Fridays. Walk-in patients are accepted from noon until 8 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday and from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Saturday. "We know that people get sick and have minor accidents at times other than 8 to 5 on weekdays," said ETMC Crockett Administrator Terry Cutler. "And, we understand that not everyone can leave work or school for a physical or check up. "So, we have extended our clinic hours to better meet the needs of our patients. We want to make healthcare more convenient for everyone." The ETMC First Physicians clinic in Crockett will provide the same services during its extended hours as are currently offered. Patients can schedule evening or Saturday appointments for routine healthcare, such as physicals. Walk-in patients with non-emergency needs also will be treated at the clinic. "We hope that patients will utilize the clinic for nonemergency care, whether it is an illness, such as a cold or the flu, or a minor injury, such as a cut, burn or sprain. "This will free up our emergency department for true emergency care and, hopefully, shorten wait times for everyone," Cutler said. "Another benefit to patients is that a clinic visit is more often less expensive than an emergency department visit." For more information or to schedule an appointment, call 936-544-5132.
