Fiery crash kills three, two still unidentified

Two of three persons who perished in an early morning crash Wednesday, June 12, near Lovelady remain unidentified as of Friday afternoon, June 14, according to DPS officials. A third victim is identified as Deidre Lester, 51, of Lovelady. According to DPS officials, all three victims were wearing seat belts. They all were pronounced dead at the scene. The head-on collision occurred at approximately 5:25 a.m. on SH 19, about .9 miles south of Lovelady, DPS Trooper Heith White said According to White, a gold 1998 Plymouth Neon was traveling northbound on SH 19, apparently crossed the line and went into the southbound lane, striking the white 1994 Acura head-on. The Neon then caught on fire, White said. It reportedly still was burning when First Responders arrived on the scene. Lester was driving the white Acura. There were no passengers in her vehicle, according to White. The driver of the Neon and one passenger who was in the Neon still remain unidentified. According to DPS officials, all three victims were wearing seat belts. They all were pronounced dead at the scene by Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace Clyde Black.
