Traffic stop reveals meth and money

After initiating a traffic stop in the 900 block of South 4th St. and a subsequent investigation, the Crockett Police Department confiscated 88 grams of methamphetamine, $1,537 in United States currency and a 1999 Ford Expedition, CPD Public Information Officer/Detective Clayton Smith reported. The investigation also resulted in the arrest of two suspects, one from Splendora (about nine miles southwest of Cleveland on US 59) and one from Shepherd (approximately 12.5 miles northeast of Cleveland, near US 59). "During the traffic stop a search of the vehicle produced an unknown package wrapped in black tape. Further investigation of the item revealed 88 grams of a crystal-like substance that was later confirmed to be methamphetamine," Smith stated. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Justin Hickman, 27, of Splendora. The passenger was identified as Brittany Mason, 24, of Shepherd, according to Smith's statement. Hickman and Mason were arrested, booked into the Houston County Jail and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Penalty Group 1, >=4 grams<200 grams.
