Suzanne Simpson, 28, of Crockett was arrested by the Crockett Police Department and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon Wednesday, July 24. According to CPD Public Information Officer/Detective Clayton Smith, CPD officers were dispatched Tuesday, July 23 to the 300 block of Labelle St. in reference to a fight involving weapons. "After arriving, officers made contact with the victim, a 31-year-old Black male, and found that he had several lacerations to his body," Smith stated. "(An) ETMC EMS ambulance immediately responded and transported the victim to the emergency room for the injuries that he sustained." Smith continued, "Further investigation of the incident revealed that after a heated argument with the mother of his (the victim's) children, the argument turned physical. It was at that point the suspect (Simpson) allegedly began assaulting the victim with a box cutter. "The victim was finally able to escape from Simpson and called 911." According to the CPD report, Simpson fled the scene before the officers arrived at the scene, but was arrested the following day on a warrant for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
